Penguin wave energy converter arrived late Wednesday evening to Kirkwall where it was towed from Cornwall. Tow went well despite of the few days delay due to weather.
Ongoing deployment preparations at EMEC test centre are part of the CEFOW project.
“Two weeks ago the sea cable was already prepared for connection and mooring laying is due to begin as weather allows. Project is lucky to have such amount of expertise, experience and entusiasm. Good leadership and common goal help us going forward to the succesful finish.” Says Timo Lotti from Wello.
Deployment is followed by building a new device, due to begin before coming summer. Its details are now fine tuned and verifing tank tests are on going this week.
“The technology team has managed to achieve smoother and continuos circular hull movement which reflects to good quality of electricity and higher energy gain, ” adds Heikki Paakkinen proudly.
